Post-Offer/Pre-Employment Testing (POET)
A POET is a commonly used test to determine a candidate’s ability to safely handle the physical demands of the job they are being considered for. A POET can be performed either before or after a candidate has been offered a position with your company. Research has shown that properly assessing a job candidate’s ability to perform the necessary lifting, carrying, sustained positions, and/or repetitive tasks required by the position can reduce the risk of work-related injury and lost time. The POET is created and implemented based on the Job Demands/Physical Demands Analysis (JDA/PDA) for the position in question. At this time, JDA/PDAs must be provided by the employer requesting the POET.
Functional Capacity/Ability Evaluation (FCE/FAE)
A standardized, quantifiable and intensive examination which objectively measures a person’s level of function and ability to perform functional or work-related tasks on a safe and dependable basis over a defined period of time. The evaluation includes an examination of pertinent clinical pathology (file/chart review), identification of client behaviours that impact physical performance (through use of standardized questionnaires), objective musculoskeletal, neuromuscular and bio-mechanical testing, functional testing, and the interpretation of these data.
A choice of 1 Day or 2 Day FCE/FAEs are offered, with a detailed report provided upon completion of testing.
All FCE/FAEs are performed by a registered physiotherapist certified in FCE/FAE testing.
